The primary function of LibreQDA is to code text selections. That is to say, to associate passages of text with one or more thematic codes in order to quickly retrieve them. To code a given selection in an open document, hold down the left mouse button and slide the cursor over to select the desired text.
These selections can be coded in two ways:
- Click on the appropriate option among the buttons that appear to either create or select an existing code.
- Drag & drop the selection on a code listed on the left-hand side of your screen
Depending on your coding strategy, you may independently code selections to create an overlay of color bands. Multiple code applied in one action are grouped under a unique color band.
